If you’re thinking of joining us to study in the Stirling Centre for International Publishing and Communication, we’re pleased to announce that Publishing is included in the Arts and Humanities Consortium of the University of Stirling and the University of Strathclyde.

We have fully funded AHRC studentships available for study in 2011-12, including for the MLitt in Publishing Studies, MSc in International Publishing Management, and MRes in Publishing Studies.

The deadline is Friday 10 June 2011, and please note that you must have made a full application for a place on the course by that date.

Scholarships available from The Stationers’ Company

The Stationers’ Company is offering scholarships for students currently undertaking, or planning to undertake, progammes of study including publishing degree courses. Students on courses at Stirling have been successful in past years at winning these prestigious scholarships, including a student on our MLitt in Publishing Studies in 2009-10.

For more information on the scholarships available, including the Major Awards, which have averaged £2000 in recent years. Major Awards are offered annually for young people who are residents of the UK and who must be under the age of 25 on 1st May in that year. The deadline for Major Scholarships is 30 January 2011.

More scholarships available for September 2010

A number of scholarships and bursaries are available to applicants who will be studying for a postgraduate degree in the Stirling Centre for International Publishing and Communication from September 2010.

The scholarships available include:

  • One £3000 and one £2000 tuition fee award for the MSc in International Publishing Management (available to both Home/EU and International students)
  • Five £1000 Master’s tuition fee awards for the MLitt, MSc and MRes programmes (available to both Home/EU and International students)
  • Two bursaries equivalent to the value of fees for full-time home/EU postgraduate students (available for both taught and research applicants)
  • Four £2000 Research tuition fee awards available for MPhil and PhD applicants (available to both Home/EU and International students)

More details of these scholarships are available on the Department of English Studies postgraduate funding page. Please note the deadline for all these awards is Friday 2 July, and applicants need to be holding a conditional or unconditional offer by that date.

Penguin Books, the world’s best known publishing company, is delighted to launch a newly established diversity traineeship for 2010. The Fellowship has been founded to honour the work that Helen Fraser, recently retired Managing Director of Penguin Books, has done to address the issue of diversity within the company. The Fellowship aims to identify, encourage, and train editorial talent within Britain’s black and ethnic minority community.

A number of University and Departmental scholarships and bursaries are now available for study at the University of Stirling.

The University is offering over 50 Postgraduate Research Studentships for students beginning PhD studies in 2010-11. These Studentships include full tuition fees at UK/EU rates, an annual stipend at UK Research Council rates (currently £13,489), and research expenses of £750 per year. In order to qualify for consideration, applicants must have received a formal offer of acceptance as a PhD candidate by 17 March 2010. Should you be interested in studying for a research degree in the Stirling Centre for International Publishing and Communication, further information is available here. In addition, the Department of English Studies (of which the Centre is part) is pleased to be offering 11 Postgraduate Tuition Fee Bursaries, at both taught postgraduate and research level. Students applying for the MLitt in Publishing Studies and the MSc in International Publishing Management, as well as research students are eligible. The deadline is 2 July 2010, but we recommend that you apply for a place by early June to ensure you have an offer before applying for a bursary. Full details are available here.
